The Office of Student Affairs at A&M-CC is seeking a student to apply to be the Student Commencement Speaker for the 2012 Spring Commencement.
Are you well-rounded, poised, possess strong verbal and written skills, and have you made a significant contribution to the campus community?
If you answered YES, then you should APPLY!
ELIGIBILITY: You must be either an undergraduate or graduate student graduating in the 2012 Spring Commencement to be considered.
There will be two commencements and so they need two speakers, one for each commencement. The morning commencement will be the Colleges of Education and Liberal Arts. The afternoon commencement will be the Colleges of Business, Nursing and Health Sciences & Science and Engineering.
PROCESS: The selection committee will interview students and recommend the top finalist to President Killebrew who will then select the top candidates for each Spring Commencement Ceremony.
HOW TO APPLY: Download the application form below and send it along with your contact information (email, phone number) and the college you are representing to Ms. Angela Walker, Associate Dean of Students, no later than 5 p.m. on Wednesday, February 22, 2012.

The STEM Outreach, Access, and Retention (SOAR) is looking for talented individuals to join their team as STEM Advisors
This individual will provide STEM academic support, financial aid information, financial literacy information, and minimal STEM tutoring and mentoring. The STEM Advisor/Mentor will also be responsible for coming up with STEM related workshops each month and overseeing the upkeep of the labs/study spaces.
Commitment: 16-20 hours per week
Monetary Benefit: $9.00 an hour
Job Duties:
- Create flyers and brochures to advertise the program
- Input student records into database
- Interact with STEM students by providing tutoring, mentoring, advising, and general STEM assistance
- Oversee lab usage/study spaces
- Attend necessary SOAR events and participate with possible
- Create monthly workshops that will benefit STEM students
- Perform other duties as assigned
Minimum Requirements:
- U.S. Citizen
- Enrolled at Texas A&M-Corpus Christi as full time student
- 3.0 GPA
- Junior or above (Graduate students welcome)
- Must be able to work 16-20 hours per week
- Strong organization skills
- Knowledge in a multitude of STEM subjects
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
- Outstanding interpersonal and teamwork skills
- Excellent communication skills and demeanor

These internships provide career exploration in a variety of fields studied by National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) and Northern Gulf Institute (NGI) scientists including coastal science, fisheries management, climate change, ecosystem management, engineering and socio-economic data analysis. Interns work with leading scientists and experts in their fields at their respective research institutions and laboratories while participating in locally relevant research. NOAA and NGI scientists as well as subject-matter experts from federal, regional and state laboratories and agencies act as mentors and facilitate intern research.

Evaluates, tests, recommends and implements PC-based software packages to determine compatibility with existing systems, ease of use and maintenance and suitability for Bank’s overall needs and requirements.
- Installs and supports desktop and networked printers.
- Supports and maintains user account information including rights, security and systems groups.
