Enjoy a 5 day Coastal Educator Expedition: June 10-15
No Comments »May 16th, 2012I’m Suraida Nanez-James and i have a very exciting job as the Education Program Manager for the Gulf of Mexico Foundation.
We have had some last minute openings on our 5-day summer Intracoastal Waterway Wetlands Expedition set to launch June 10 through June 15.
We will accept educators, undergraduate & graduate students, photography students, and media students. We would love to have you join us.
The cost is only $100 for ALL 5 days (includes food, lodging, materials, kayaking, etc.) plus your own transportation to Freeport, TX.

2013 AAHHE Outstanding Thesis Competition

The American Association of Hispanics in Higher Education (AAHHE) — in partnership with the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), the National Institute of Food and Agriculture (NIFA), and Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi (TAMUCC) — proudly announces the 2013 AAHHE Outstanding Thesis Competition. The contest is open to any U.S. citizen or permanent resident of Latino heritage that has completed a thesis between December 2010 and August 1, 2012 and whose focus is on Food and the Agricultural Sciences.
Theses are eligible if they are in domains related to the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) priority areas, which include Food Safety, Climate Change, Sustainable Energy, Childhood Obesity, Global Food Security and Hunger.
The top three finishers will be invited and sponsored to attend the 8th Annual AAHHE National Conference in San Antonio, TX (March 28-30, 2013) to present their theses, participate in a Career Preparation Institute and receive their awards. The first place winner will receive $3,000, the second place winner will receive $2,000, and the third place winner will receive $1,000.
Selected individuals competing for the awards will also be invited and sponsored to attend the 8th Annual AAHHE National Conference and participate in the 2nd Annual Career Preparation Institute. Please share the attached thesis guidelines with faculty, colleagues, recent master-level graduates and current candidates who are eligible and encourage them to apply.
