ELITE Graduate Program would like to congratulate Dr. Bradley Shope on receiving our Outstanding Faculty Award at the Spring 2012 ELITE Cohort Celebration.

Dr. Bradley Shope has been instrumental in the growth and development of the ELITE Graduate Program. Dr. Shope has actively supported our graduate faculty development component aimed at enhancing the teaching and pedagogical skills of the faculty at Texas A&M University – Corpus Christi.  As director of the Center for Faculty Excellence our departments have collaborated by co-hosting various faculty development initiatives to meet our goals and objectives in relation to increasing the quality of classroom and laboratory instruction. The ELITE Graduate Program has been honored to collaborate with Dr. Shope on numerous workshops for the benefit of all Islanders such as: The Islander Forum, The 6th Annual Graduate Student Scholarly Works Symposium, EndNote Software Training and several more. His contributions don’t stop there; Dr. Shope has also served as a mentor to two fellows. He has also utilized ELITE’s travel funding to attend the May 2011 Teaching Professor Conference.

Dr. Shope is the Director of the Center for Faculty Excellence as well as an Assistant Professor of Music in the College of Liberal Arts.   He received his Ph. D. in Ethnomusicology from Indiana University and he has been awarded numerous grants to conduct his work, including two “National Endowment for the Arts Challenge America” Grants. Dr. Shope has several years of experience working in the area of faculty development with a focus on course design, student engagement including diversity and multiculturalism in the classroom.

An Islander since 2010, Dr. Shope’s extensive professional career includes stints at St. John’s University and the University of North Texas as an Adjunct Assistant Professor, Title III Coordinator, Faculty Professional Development Specialist and Folks Arts Director in the Queens Council on the Arts. Author of numerous journal articles and book reviews coupled with a lengthy list of presentations under his belt the Island University is fortunate to house such an accomplished individual.

Congratulations Dr. Shope and thank you for your continued effort in making the ELITE Graduate Program elite!
